Lead Teacher Full-Time
Responsibilities
- Plan and implement daily program activities
- Coordinate assistant group supervisors and aides
- Assist the director with designated activities
- Be present with children at least 60% of operational hours
- Ensure children’s safety on-site, during excursions, and during transportation
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in ECE/Child Development/Special Ed/Elementary Ed/Human Services + 1 year experience
- Bachelor’s (any field) + 30 ECE credits + 2 years experience
- Associate’s in ECE or related field + 3 years experience
- Associate’s (any field) + 15 ECE credits + 4 years experience
- CDA certificate + 2 years experience
Lead Teachers guide young learners with joyful discovery, gentle structure, and spiritual growth while ensuring compliance with Pennsylvania DHS regulations.
Assistant Teacher Part-Time & Full-Time
Responsibilities
- Assist in implementing daily activities under the Lead Teacher
- Coordinate daily activities and supervise aides/volunteers
Qualifications (HS diploma/GED and one of the following)
- 30 ECE/related credits
- 2 years experience working with children
- Completion of a DHS-approved post-secondary training curriculum
- Minimum 600 hours of secondary training (§3270.31(e)(4))
- Enrollment in a CDA credential program
- Enrollment in a DHS-approved post-secondary curriculum
- Enrollment in an accredited college/university in ECE or related fields
- Minimum 15 ECE credits
- 1 year experience + 6 ECE credits
Assistant Teachers nurture children’s growth and support the Lead Teacher, fostering a safe, faith-based classroom.
Classroom Aide
Core Responsibilities
- Assist in implementing daily program activities
- Support transitions, routines, and classroom organization
- Model kindness, patience, and attentiveness
- Work under direct supervision at all times
Qualifications (meet one)
- High school diploma or GED
- 8th grade + enrollment in a DHS-approved training curriculum (classroom portion completed)
- 8th grade + 2 years experience working with children
Note: Aides must be supervised at all times by staff qualified at least as Assistant Teachers.
Classroom Aides provide hands-on support and a warm, consistent presence so children thrive in a joyful, faith-filled environment.
Substitute Teacher
Responsibilities
- Step in when staff are unavailable and lead classroom activities
- Maintain routines, safety, engagement, and emotional support
- Uphold Sunshine’s faith-centered mission and values
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (any field)
- PA teaching certificate or Emergency Permit (requested by the center)
- Background checks, fingerprinting, and child abuse clearances
- U.S. work eligibility; service up to 180 days/school year for inactive certificates
Substitutes ensure continuity of learning and care in alignment with Sunshine’s standards and classroom routines.
